Apples

What a week full of "tasty" activities! We talked about Apples this week and did some investigating.

We looked at different types of apples (brought in by all our friends) and used some for tracing. It was so interesting to watch how each child approached this activity in their own, unique fashion.

We asked them to "trace" the apple shape and add a stem.

Tasting the different apples (red, yellow, and green) was the most popular activity of the week. Everyone was interested in trying at least one of the "colors".

At group time, we dissected an apple to see all the different parts of the fruit.
We named the peel (or skin), flesh, core, seeds, and stem.

We used the apples themselves for printing with tempera paint, and used apple-colored watercolor paints for one-ok-a-kind pieces.

There was a lot of interest in creating this week which was especially fun.

A special treat was a visit from the Lafayette Fire Department on Tuesday.

We were able to view and climb through the fire truck. We listened carefully to the firefighters talk to us about fire safety and explain all about their special gear.
