What a week full of "tasty" activities! We talked about Apples this week and did some investigating.
We looked at different types of apples (brought in by all our friends) and used some for tracing. It was so interesting to watch how each child approached this activity in their own, unique fashion.
We asked them to "trace" the apple shape and add a stem.
Tasting the different apples (red, yellow, and green) was the most popular activity of the week. Everyone was interested in trying at least one of the "colors".
At group time, we dissected an apple to see all the different parts of the fruit.
We named the peel (or skin), flesh, core, seeds, and stem.
We used the apples themselves for printing with tempera paint, and used apple-colored watercolor paints for one-ok-a-kind pieces.
There was a lot of interest in creating this week which was especially fun.
A special treat was a visit from the Lafayette Fire Department on Tuesday.
We were able to view and climb through the fire truck. We listened carefully to the firefighters talk to us about fire safety and explain all about their special gear.
Follow along to see what we do and how we learn at Lafayette Academy Preschool in the 3's.

Pets
It was raining cats and dogs at school this week! We had a fun week talking about out pets and practicing some new skills during center time.
We counted out animals stickers to coordinate with the numerals on our paper. This was pretty tricky work for most of our friends, but they worked hard .
We matched alphabet blocks to the letters in several catagories of pets. This pre-reading practice was completed with enthusiasm!
Another counting activity was held at group time when we made a graph of our favorite pets. We each chose our favorites and placed them in the correct column. Then we counted each column to find the "winner".
Art activities included water-color paintings of animal cut-outs.
We colored and stamped.
We laced animal cards.
One of our favorite things all week - we worked in our sensory table full of birdseed!
